Your schedule is busier than ever and there are so many things to think about and prepare for when having a baby. That’s why choosing the right support is important to you. Whether you’re looking for someone to help you navigate the many options you have to create your ideal birth, wanting physical support for yourself, or desiring emotional support for you and your partner, I can help be that consistent and familiar presence during one of the most exciting and memorable times in your life. My goal is likely the same as yours- to make well informed decisions and feel fully supported in order to have a memorable labor and a happy and healthy baby!
A midwife once told me “you can’t physically help a woman give birth. The goal is to avoid disturbing her unnecessarily.” I love this philosophy. My goal is to remain focused on making sure you’re nourished, hydrated, reassured, and comforted while also leaving room for you to follow your instincts. A delicate balance of coaching, guidance, and support along with giving you space, when needed, is the key to good doula support. I also want to make sure you feel educated, supported, and able to make informed choices both before and during the birth.
I am a DONA International trained and certified birth doula. Before becoming a doula I was a veterinarian and worked with critical patients in a referral hospital. As a veterinarian, and now doula, I believe all families deserve to feel respected, listened to, and included in all aspects of their care. With a strong background in science, my passion lies in evidence based care and I believe with the right support my clients can aim to achieve the perfect birth for their family.
When I’m not busy with supporting families through pregnancy and labor, I enjoy raising my children and spending time outdoors as a family, discovering all Raleigh, Cary, Apex, and the surrounding NC area has to offer, cooking, staying active, and caring for creatures great and small.
